Elja Ensemble is a young Icelandic chamber collective dedicated to innovative programming and performance.
Their mission is to engage audiences of all ages in exciting and energetic performances that bridge the divide between different time periods and genres of music.
They perform classical music ranging from early baroque to the present day, in addition to regularly featuring pop artists, avant-garde electronic music and much more!
Formed at The Juilliard School, the Athena Quartet is a string quartet focused on community engagement. The four members, Rannveig Marta Sarc and Sophia Szokolay on violins, Hannah Burnett on viola, and Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdottir on cello, share a passion for bringing music outside the concert hall and into unconventional settings. The Quartet aims to bring interactive concerts and workshops to community venues across New York City with a particular emphasis on serving women at risk of violence and homelessness. Their upcoming engagements include a partnership with Lenox Hill Mental Health Shelter, and performances at Lenox Hill Senior Center and Daniel's Music.
Quartet Amí, comprised of Miki Nagahara and Natalie Lee on violin, Gabe Napoli on viola, and Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir on cello, was formed in 2015 at Northwestern University. Brought together by an innate love of music and collaboration, and strong bonds of friendship, the quartet has won several prizes and performed across the U.S. The members of the quartet still regularly reunite and perform together in addition to pursuing performance and educational opportunities across the globe.
